During Earth's major power outage, Kodai witnesses a mysterious reconnaissance aircraft and learns that the analyzed powerful transmission is warning of a space crisis. He advises the defense council about the “new threat,” but is dismissed by the committee members who are intoxicated with prosperity. Kodai calls on former crew members to solve these mysteries and decides to launch the Yamato without authorization. However, Yuki Mori is saddened by this renewed departure… Meanwhile, Dessler, who has been rescued by the comet empire, is gathering his remaining fleet.
